On May 16, 2005, Congressman Bob Filner stood before the U.S. Congress to introduce Bill H.R. 2370, "In Memory Medal For Forgotten Veterans Act".
H.R. 2370 will issue a medal to certain veterans who died after their service
in the Vietnam War as a direct result of that service, or who were presumptively
exposed to ionizing radiation, herbicide agents, or chemical agents during
their service in the Armed Forces.
H.R. 2370 comes to the foreground after Vietnam Veteran Jesus "Chuchi" Salgado. As a U.S. Marine (Sgt), Chuchi (pronounced 'choo-chee') served two tours in Vietnam during the Tet Offense. Thirty-two years later, Chuchi was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma cancer. This diagnosis was recognized by the U.S. government as been caused by the pesticide Agent Orange.
To this Bill, you need to urge your congress
by emailing or snail mailing a letter to your local representative. Please
navigate through this website to learn more about H.R. 2370 and please tell
your friends and family.
AGAIN, Our only chance of having this bill pass is by WRITING YOUR LOCAL CONGRESS REPRESENTATIVE and URGE THEM TO SUPPORT the PASSING of H.R.2370.
THINK OF YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO HAVE SERVED THE U.S. ARMED FORCES. EACH ONE OF THEM DESERVES TO BE HONORED FOR THEIR SERVICE, AS THESE FORGOTTEN ONES; Who won't be honored as casualities, nor friendly fire, nor Purple Hearts...These are VETERANS who should have had a BETTER LONGER LIFE if it had not been for all chemical agents used during time of conflict.
